The Identicals Overview
In The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand, twin sisters Harper and Tabitha Frost have not spoken since Tabitha’s premature baby died and she blamed the death on Harper. That was almost fifteen years ago. When the twins' father dies and their mother breaks her hip, the girls are forced back together. Both Harper and Tabitha have reasons for wanting a break from their daily lives. So, they decide to switch lives, with Harper taking care of Tabitha’s daughter and their mother’s boutique while Tabitha takes care of selling their father’s house. The switch offers both sisters a fresh look into each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which results in a new respect for one another. Themes in the novel include the coming of age of an entire family, learning to live with the consequences of one’s actions, and the life of identical twins.
