In Holly Gramazio's novel The Husbands, Lauren returns home drunk from a friend's party one night and finds a strange man in her London flat. She soon discovers that the man is her husband. If she sends him to the attic, he will disappear and a new husband will appear in his place. Thrilled by the possibility of finding the perfect man and perfect life, Lauren starts to cycle through hundreds of men in search of happiness. Over time, however, Lauren's uncanny new circumstances complicate how she sees herself and her future. Written from the third-person point of view, the novel explores themes including happiness, choice, and loneliness.
