The Humans Overview
This play, which won the 2016 Tony Award for Best New Play and was a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, dramatizes events before, during, and after a Thanksgiving dinner celebrated by the blue collar Blake family. An atmosphere of fearful tension builds as three generations bicker about the past, fret about the present, and try not to worry too much about the future. Amidst passing references to a number of real-world events, the narrative explores themes related to the nature and importance of religious faith, the struggle for individual identity, and the randomness of life.
