The Great Derangement is a nonfiction book by novelist Amitav Ghosh. In this book, the author considers how and why humankind has failed to address the crisis of climate change. The text is divided into three parts, in which Ghosh explores the lack of representation of climate change in the contemporary novel, the history of imperialism and industrialization that caused the climate crisis, and the reasons for the lack of an effective response by ordinary citizens and world leaders alike. The book discusses themes such as politics, literature, and climate change denial.
