The Family Fang Overview
The Family Fang is a novel by Kevin Wilson. The story follows Annie Fang and her brother Buster, both of whom have a strained relationship with their parents: Caleb and Camille. Caleb and Camille are performance artists whose best-known works have involved the tagging of strange and dramatic scenes in public. When Annie and Buster were young, Caleb and Camille forced them to take part in these experimental performance pieces. As adults, Annie and Buster have struggled to find a sense of emotional stability. Eventually, circumstances force Annie and Buster to directly confront the persistent dysfunction in their family. The novel explores themes of art, family dysfunction, romantic relationships, and personal recovery.
