The Dive from Clausen’s Pier, by Ann Packer, is a first person narrative, coming-of-age story about Carrie Bell, a twenty-three year old Wisconsin woman. After her fiancé has an accident which leaves him a quadriplegic, Carrie flees for a new life and relationship in New York City. The novel explores the themes of Identity, relationships, loyalty, guilt, loss and alienation.
