"The Convergence of the Twain" is a 1912 poem by British novelist and poet Thomas Hardy. It laments the disastrous sinking of the RMS Titanic, drawing on themes of decadence and social apathy. Hardy originally composed his piece as part of a public effort to raise funds both for survivors of the catastrophe and for families of its victims. The poem is broken into eleven stanzas of three rhymed lines each.
