The Brooklyn Follies Overview
The Brooklyn Follies tells the story of Nathan Glass and his nephew Tom Wood. Nathan is a retired insurance salesman in his early sixties, and after he and his wife divorce, he moves to Brooklyn to spend his retirement. In Brooklyn, he encounters his nephew, Tom Wood, whom he has not seen in years. After failing to complete a PhD program, Tom came to Brooklyn to start a new life. Together, Nathan and Tom navigate their new lives in Brooklyn as they search for stability and fulfillment. The novel explores themes of adversity, family, personal renewal, love, and friendship.
