The Boys Who Challenged Hitler Overview
The Boys Who Challenged Hitler tells the true story of a group of teenage boys who resisted the German occupation of their home country, Denmark. Using a series of interviews from Knud Pedersen, one of the leaders of the group – called the Churchill Club after the British leader – author Phillip Hoose describes how these young boys felt called as Danish patriots to complete increasingly-dangerous acts of Nazi resistance after their country’s leadership quickly succumbed to German occupation. The Boys Who Challenged Hitler focuses on the bravery required in patriotism and the power of civilian vigilantism, as well as celebrating the impact young people can have when they are committed to creating change.
