The Art Forger Overview
The Art Forger is a novel by B. A. Shapiro in which art reproductionist Clair Roth is hired to forge the Degas painting After the Bath, stolen more than 25 years before from the Gardner Museum heist, the most infamous and expensive art robbery in history. The Art Forgery deals with crucial and directly critical themes that range from the hypocrisy of art forgery to the idea that the ends do not justify the means, to the way the art world and the Gardner Musuem have lost sight of their true purposes.
