The Adventures of China Iron is by Argentine author Gabriela Cabezon Camara and has been translated into English by Fiona Mackintosh and Iona Mcintyre. First-person narration tells the story of young China (pronounced CHEE-na), married and a mother in her mid-teens. As China flees her abusive marriage in search of a new life, she embarks on a profoundly transformative journey in which she discovers trust, love, and a true sense of herself. As it chronicles both China’s outer and inner journey, the narrative considers themes related to the nature of freedom, the definition of civilization, and the power of nature.
