Talons of Power Overview

Tui Sutherland's fantasy novel, Wings of Fire Book 9; Talons of Power, is the ongoing story of dragons in Pyrrhia. In this installment, a SeaWing named Turtle uses his animus powers to hide himself from Darkstalker, the ancient NightWing who has just emerged from a mountain. Turtle can tell Darkstalker is dangerous. However, most of the other dragons have fallen under Darkstalker's spell and feel he is trustworthy. Turtle has spent most of his life trying to hide the fact that he has animus (magic) power. Now he realizes protecting others is more important than being safe. Turtle hides his sister just before Darkstalker takes Turtle's power, making him truly ordinary. The novel's main themes are family connections, abuse of power, and self-confidence.
