Summerlost Overview

Summerlost, by Aly Condie, is the story of Cedar Lee, a young girl trying to cope with the deaths of her brother and father. Cedar is spending the summer in Iron Creek with her mother and surviving brother when she meets Leo Bishop. While working together at the Summerlost Festival, Cedar and Leo explore the life of the town's most famous resident, Lisette Chamberlain. At the same time, Cedar is trying to come to terms with her feelings about life and all its challenges. She makes great strides in that direction over the course of the summer. The main themes are coping with grief, the importance of friendship, and sibling relationships.
