In Reema Patel's novel Such Big Dreams, first person narrator and protagonist Rakhi is attempting to override her past traumas via her work with a human rights organization called Justice For All. When Alex, a new white intern from Canada, joins the Justice For All team, Rakhi perceives him as an avenue of escape. Despite her friends' warnings ab out trusting Alex, Rakhi attaches herself to him and his ideas for her future.
