Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires Overview
In Grady Hendrix's novel, Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, a group of South Carolina housewives battle against a vampire who has infiltrated their community. Patricia loves her family, but she wants more out of life than vacuuming carpets and driving carpool. She joins a book club in the hopes that she will find amusement, but instead she finds the best friends she has ever had. When the women begin to suspect that their new neighbor, James, is not quite who he seems to be, no one believes them. The women must take the fate of their lives, their children, and their home into their own hands. Along the way, the novel explores racism, sexism, friendship, mental health, and the power of books.
