Song of the Lion Overview
Anne Hillerman's mystery novel Song of the Lion is deeply inspired by the places and cultures -- both native and modern -- of the American Southwest. At a high school basketball game in small Shiprock, New Mexico, a car bomb in the parking lot explodes the fancy BMW of powerful lawyer Aza Palmer, killing a passerby, but not Palmer. Palmer is in charge of mediating a contentious meeting about potential real estate developments on the Grand Canyon. Even though Palmer has a personal police escort following the bomb scare, both himself and the meetings are continuously sabotaged.
