Solar Bones Overview
Solar Bones, a novel by Mike McCormack, tells the story of Marcus Conway and his experiences as a father, a husband, and an Irish citizen. On All Souls' Day, Conway's ghost revisits his family home, waiting for his wife and children to return to him. As he waits, Conway reflects on the entirety of his life, remembering his childhood, his relationship with his father, his marriage to his wife, the lives of his children, and eventually, relating the tale of his own death. Throughout, Conway contemplates the political obligations, religious devotion, and the mystery of death itself. By the end of All Souls' Day -- and the end of the novel -- the reader has heard the uplifting, heartbreaking story of an ordinary man and his life.
