Small Country Overview
Small Country is a novel by Faye Gaël. The story follows Gabriel, a half-French and half-Rwandan boy growing up in Burundi in the early 1990s. As Rwanda and Burundi descend into genocidal violence, Gabriel struggles not only to keep his family together but to keep his childhood intact. The novel addresses themes including violence, childhood, family, literature, and friendship.
