Sleepwalk Overview

Dan Chaon’s Sleepwalk depicts the journey of a narrator who refers to himself as “the Barely Blur,” as he tries to find a young woman purporting to be his daughter, Cammie. Blur is a 50-year-old man-for-hire in an underground, criminal network. The novel is set in a slightly dystopian future; private, mercenary outfits seem to have replaced governmental institutions, and multi-purpose AI drones are integrated into society. Blur is reluctant to meet Cammie, but over the course of the story, he forms an attachment with her. Simultaneously, Blur begins to discover that he is involved in a cult oriented around human genetic farming.
