Slave Play Overview
Slave Play, by Jeremy O. Harris, was nominated for a 2020 Tony Award for Best New Play, with its Broadway production receiving several other Tony nominations. It explores the experiences of three inter-racial couples as they search for solutions to problems in their sex lives. With the help of a pair of self-serving therapists, each couple experiences moments of confrontation and realization. Those experiences are defined by thematically central considerations of racism, the prioritizing of the self, and the relationship between music and strong feeling.
