Shadows on the Rock Overview
Shadows on the Rock is a historical novel by Willa Cather. It takes place in colonial Quebec in the late 1600s and covers one year of the characters’ lives in the colony. The main characters are physician Euclide Auclair and his daughter Cécile. The novel is comprised of a series of sequential, loosely connected episodes depicting the realities of colonial life at that time and place.
