Send for Me is a novel by Lauren Fox. Annelise is a young Jewish woman living in Germany with her parents and sister on the eve of World War II. She falls in love and becomes a mother just as her growing family is forced to leave Germany for the United States. Annelise continues to correspond with her family back home as she attempts to build a new life in an unfamiliar country and maintain her sense of self. The novel explores themes of escapism, home, idealization, happiness, and abandonment.
