Righteous (An IQ Novel) Overview
Joe Ide’s fiction novel, Righteous, is the follow-up to Ide’s first novel, IQ. Righteous is the story of Isaiah “IQ” Quintabe, a 25-year-old man with exceptional powers of deduction, who loses his goals in life after the death of his beloved brother, Marcus. By taking the painful steps of coming to terms with Marcus’ real character and his death, Isaiah is able to replace his feelings of despair and hopelessness with the ability to learn how to be more than just a person with a high IQ. He learns how to create bonds with, and relate to, others. Themes related to violence, righteousness, trust, grief, and what it takes to fill in the holes in one’s life are prevalent throughout the narrative.
