Richard II by William Shakespeare examines the last two years of the life of King Richard II. King Richard has been chastised for his inability to properly govern England and many feel that Bolingbroke would do much better. The tide of events slowly turns against Richard and he reluctantly gives up his crown. Richard is exiled to Pomfret castle where he is murdered by Exton on the orders of Bolingbroke.
