Remember (Poem) Overview

“Remember” is a sonnet by English poet Christina Rossetti. The poem was first written in 1849 but published much later in 1862 as part of Rossetti’s first volume of poetry, Goblin Market and Other Poems. Like much of her other poetry, Rossetti examines the titular subject of remembrance through the prospect of her own death. In this exploration of loss, death, and love, the speaker asks that she occasionally be remembered and even accepts the she may eventually be forgotten by those she leaves behind.
