Remainder is a novel by Tom McCarthy. The story follows an unnamed protagonist who is injured in a random accident one day. He is paid several million dollars as a settlement. Following the accident, he becomes obsessed with recreating and reenacting very specific, often mundane scenarios. He uses his newfound fortune to fund these reenactment projects, which eventually begin to spiral out of control.
