Refuge Overview
Dina Nayert’s literary fiction novel, Refuge, tells the story of a father and daughter from their alternating perspectives in Iran, the United States, and around the world from the 1980s through 2009. The novel explores their distant relationship, as the daughter leaves Iran to become a refugee, while her father remains in Iran living under duress. The novel explores the themes of aging, the absurd, and religion as both a liberator and oppressor.
