Pretty Things Overview
Pretty Things is a novel by Janelle Brown. Nina and Vanessa first cross paths as teenagers near Lake Tahoe. Over a decade later, Nina has become a grifter and a con artist, just like her mother. She makes a living robbing rich young men and women of their valuables. Vanessa, on the other hand, has turned her inherited wealth into a lucrative social media career as an Instagram influencer. When Nina's mother is diagnosed with cancer and requires an expensive treatment, Nina decides to pull off her biggest con yet: robbing Vanessa of one million dollars. The novel explores classism, mental health, deception, isolation, and morality.
