Everything you need to understand or teach Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder.
In Rachel Yoder's novel Nightbitch, shortly after a woman gives up her artistic career to be a stay-at-home mother, she becomes convinced that she is turning into a dog. She soon starts calling the dog version of herself Nightbitch and leaning in to this canine identity. The more doglike she becomes, however, the more afraid Nightbitch is of terrifying her husband, harming her child, and further alienating herself. Throughout the novel, Nightbitch wrestles with her competing desires to be a good human mother and a wild and free dog. The novel explores themes including womanhood and motherhood, loneliness and longing, and art and creation.
