Mrs. Fletcher Overview
Mrs. Fletcher, a novel by Tom Perrotta, follows the life of middle-aged divorcée Eve Fletcher after her only son, Brendan, moves out of the house to go to college. Now that she is living by herself, Eve struggles with her sense of purpose. She explores new potential aspects of her identity in search of stability in her life. Meanwhile, Brendan struggles to adapt to college. All he wants to do is drink and party, but both his social life and his academics falter severely. The novel explores themes of family, friendship, love, personal purpose, and gender and sexuality.
