Mosquitoland Overview
David Arnold's novel, Mosquitoeland, is the story of Mim, a 16-year-old girl who desperately misses her mother and has just learned her stepmother is pregnant. Mim sets out from Mississippi to Ohio, planning to reunite with her mother. Along the way, she meets interesting people, discovers an unlikely pair of friends, and learns that things are not always as they seem. Through her observations, thoughts, and letters to her unborn sister, Mim comes to understand more about love, home, and herself. The novel's main themes are coming of age, good versus evil, and the role of positive friendships.
