Mississippi Blood Overview
In Mississippi Blood by Greg Iles, narrator Penn Cage goes up against the viciously racist Double Eagles in order to prove that his father, Tom Cage, is not guilty of murdering Viola Turner, the black woman with whom he had a child in the late ’60s. For Penn, the case is particularly personal because the Double Eagles killed his fiancee and attempted to kidnap and kill his young daughter. Themes in the novel include racism in the ’60s and modern times, good versus and evil, and motive versus actions.
