This collection of short stories is set in the author’s home country of Kenya, and explores the experiences of both black and white characters affected by colonialism. As it develops narratives associated with various longings – for love, for success, for freedom and safety – the collection also develops themes related to the nature and power of faith, to the experience of returning home, and to different sorts of interactions between past and present.
