Everything you need to understand or teach Minority Report.
A landmark work of science fiction, Philip K. Dick’s short story “The Minority Report,” first published in 1956, introduced readers to the futuristic world that reached its highest level of fame with the 2002 release of the Steven Spielberg blockbuster of the same name starring Tom Cruise. The story imagines a world in which mutant beings known as “precogs” deliver information about crimes that have not been committed to a police force known as Precrime, resulting in a society that has effectively abolished all crime. Exploring what happens when the leader and founder of Precrime finds himself suspected of a future murder, the story makes a fascinating comment on the philosophical conundrums of precognition, free will, and determinism.
