Milk and Honey Overview
This collection of short poems is anchored in a broad-strokes narrative structure – childhood and youth, mid-relationship, end-relationship, and post-relationship. Its content is essentially defined by the perspectives and experiences of a single speaker, whose identity is initially (and perhaps deliberately) unclear, but who is eventually implied to be the author. Ultimately, as it explores experiences in, and responses to, relationships and identity, the collection also develops themes related to self-image, aspects of female sexuality, and transcending pain.
