Metamorphoses: Play Overview
This play, based on a work by the Ancient Greek poet Ovid, consists of a series of short plays that dramatize stories from Greek mythology. Well-known tales like that of King Midas are juxtaposed with lesser-known stories like that of wood nymph Pomona and a determined suitor, with all eight tales (and the play’s Prologue) dramatizing themes related to the power and nature of love, the danger of earthly attachments, and the power of myth to teach.
