In Lisa Ko's novel Memory Piece, childhood friends Giselle Chin, Jackie Ong, and Ellen Ng reunite in New York City as adults. Giselle is pursuing a career in performance art. Jackie is developing a virtual diary website, and Ellen is building a co-op in an East Village squat. As time passes and the friends' lives change, they are forced to ask themselves what they care about and if their connection is powerful enough to last.
