Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare is a play about how an innocent situation can easily spiral out of control. As Angelo allows his new found power to go to his head, he makes bad judgments that almost cost him his life when Duke Vincentio learns of his misdeeds. Angelo orders the execution of Claudio over a simple technicality. Isabella, Claudio’s sister, is propositioned by Angelo to give up her virginity in order to save her brother’s life. She is able to keep her morals and dignity while achieving her desired result. Angelo is repentant and learns a valuable lesson as Duke Vincentio pardons him from execution.
