Kathryn Schulz’s memoir Lost & Found is divided into three parts: “Lost,” “Found,” and “And.” The three chapters thus correspond to the three words in the book title, with the conjunction “&” expanded and explored further. The first part explores the narrator’s loss of her father and the second part examines the narrator meeting her wife, a form of finding. The third part—“And”—appears last in the series, although the conjunction appears between “Lost” and “Found” in the book title, scrambling the reader's sense of chronology. The main themes that the memoir deals with are loss, finding, love, death, multiplicity and conjunction.
