Lead From the Outside Overview
Part memoir, part self-help book, Stacey Abrams’ Lead from the Outside was originally published while she was on the campaign trail in Georgia, running to be the first Black woman to serve as governor in the United States. Told from her perspective, the aims of the book are two-fold: firstly, to introduce the character and life story of Stacey Abrams to the world and secondly, to provide a pragmatic guide to aspiring minority leaders. The book is divided into nine chapters that delve into topics of leadership as well as personal and professional development strategies specifically geared to people living at the margins of established power structures.
