Lab Girl, by Hope Jahren, is the autobiographical story of how Jahren fell in love with science when she was a little girl, who regularly visited her father's science lab at a community college in Minnesota. When she was a graduate assistant, she met a fellow scientist named Bill and the two embarked on a lifelong commitment to work together as scientists. They set up three labs together over the years, did some important research, and finally settled in Hawaii where Jahren's husband had a long-term job.
