Jasper Jones Overview
Before the night Jasper Jones asks Charlie Bucktin for help in solving a terrible death, Charlie has been a shy, bookish outcast. Now, Charlie must put his reading to use in order to inform his own choices about justice, being a hero, and, ultimately, becoming a man.
The weeks that follow the murder are hot and filled with anger and suspicion as friends, parents, and townspeople all attempt to answer the mystery and make sense of their changing society. In the midst, Charlie relies on Jasper and his books to help him try to find the elusive truth of his small town, and ultimately, of the turbulent world of 1965-1966.
