It's Not Summer Without You is the second novel in Jenny Han's Summer series. Belly Conklin and her family spend every summer at their friend Susannah's beach house. Over the years, Belly falls in love with Susannah's oldest son, Conrad, and hopes to be with him forever. However, just before the summer Belly turns 17, Susannah dies from cancer and Conrad breaks up with Belly. For the first time ever, no one makes any plans to visit the beach house. When Conrad disappears, however, his younger brother asks Belly to help find him. Belly and the brothers all end up back at the beach house for one last Fourth of July weekend, but everything feels different without Susannah. The novel explores grief, nostalgia, family, immaturity, and the way in which little moments can have humongous consequences.
