“Irish Poetry” is a free-verse satirical poem by American poet Billy Collins. It first appeared in Poetry Magazine in 2006 (a humor-themed issue provisionally titled “Peotry”). The poem uses overtly lyrical language to imitate the sounds and rhythms of traditional Irish poetry, particularly that which draws from the rural landscape.
