In Other Rooms, Other Wonders Overview
In Other Rooms, Other Wonders, by Daniyal Mueenuddin, is a collection of inter-connected short stories set in contemporary, or near-contemporary, Pakistan. Spanning a forty-year time period from the mid-1970’s through the early part of the 21st Century, the eight stories focus on people connected in one way or another to businessman K.K. Harouni. Harouni himself is a central character in one of the book's longer pieces. Several common themes such as the struggle to achieve change, the hold of tradition on the present, and the power of longing are explored.
