IQ: A Novel Overview
Joe Ide’s IQ is a modern detective novel set in East Long Beach and starring a reluctant duo, Isaiah “IQ” Quintabe and his sidekick Juanell Dodson. The novel alternates between chapters set during IQ's teenage years (specifically 2005-2006) and chapters set during his adulthood (specifically the year 2013.) Throughout the book, the reader learns how and why Isaiah became the detective he was always destined to be. When Isaiah is asked to find the culprit who hired a hitman to assassinate a famous rapper, he enters a world full of pop, celebrity, wealth, and criminality.
