Everything you need to understand or teach How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair.
How to Say Babylon is a memoir by Safiya Sinclair. In her memoir, Safiya explores her early and teenage years in Jamaica under the shadow of her father, an adherent to a strict sect of Rastafari. He was obsessed with the idea of his daughters' purity and the corrupting force of the outside world, trying to shelter them and mold them into obedient young women. As Safiya grows more curious about life outside of Jamaica and the myriad paths a woman's life may take, she finds herself increasingly at odds with her father. Sinclair's work explores themes of doubt, water, urban development, masculinity, and poverty.
