Hood Feminism Overview
Hood Feminism: Notes From the Women that a Movement Forgot is a series of essays that highlight issues with mainstream feminism, particularly as they relate to women who are not white or middle- to upper-class. Mikki argues for an intersectional feminism that fights for the rights of everyone, particularly those who are most marginalized in society due to their race, socioeconomic status, gender identity, or other factors. Hood Feminism is a call to action for mainstream and relatively privileged feminists to be more inclusive, effective, and empathetic in their advocacy. The book explores themes of intersectional feminism, race and class, respectability politics, and social reform.
