Homeland Elegies is an autobiographical novel by Ayad Akhtar. Set predominately in the aftermath of 9/11, the novel depicts the coming of age of the narrator, Ayad Akhtar, who is born in America to immigrant parents from Pakistan. The novel is set in New York City and various parts of the American Midwest. Throughout, Ayad deals with themes of racial identity, religion, and belonging, while touching on topics such as politics, literature and economics.
