Holly Overview

In the horror novel Holly by Stephen King, some people will do anything to combat old age, even if means killing people and eating them. Former Bell College professors Rodney “Roddy” and Emily Harris believe that eating human liver and brains will recharge their own bodies and keep them young. When Holly begins investigating the disappearance of a young woman, she stumbles upon the horrendous string of crimes the couple has been committing for years. Themes in the novel include attempts to fight off old age, ordinary evil, racism, and grief. Together, Covid and Trump serve as a motif in the novel, which is set in 2021.
